Access control lets you manage entry to your building without handing out keys. Unique Communications installs card, fob, keypad and mobile credential systems for offices, plants, clinics, schools and apartment buildings across Windsor-Essex, and connects them to your alarm and cameras.
Who needs access control?
- Businesses with staff who start and finish at different times
- Sites with areas only some people should enter, such as stock rooms, server rooms or pharmacies
- Apartment and condo buildings that need to manage residents, cleaners and contractors
- Owners who have had to re-key after losing a key or letting someone go
Options
- Key fobs and cards. Cheap to replace and cancel. The most common choice.
- Keypads. Useful for gates and secondary doors.
- Mobile credentials. Staff use their phone to open the door.
- Biometric readers. Fingerprint or facial recognition for high-security areas.
What you can do with it
Set schedules so doors unlock at opening time and lock at closing; give each person access to only the doors they need; see a log of every entry; and cancel a lost fob from your desk. Multi-site businesses can manage all locations from one system.
Cost
The main costs are the number of doors, the type of lock hardware and the software. We quote after a site survey.
Common questions
Can I manage access from my phone?
Most systems we install can be managed from a browser or app, so you can add or remove users from anywhere.
What happens in a power cut?
Systems have battery backup, and door hardware is chosen to meet fire code for safe exit.
Can access control work with my alarm?
Yes. The alarm can disarm automatically when an authorised user enters, and cameras can record every door event.
